JJ Grey and Mofro's Controversial New Video

We originally passed on posting this, but JJ made a personal plea. JJ told us that he shot it with a buddy in his living room, and when his son and girlfriend walked in on the shoot, well, JJ admits he felt a little awkward. It's a little racy, putting it somewhere between PG-13 and R. You've been warned... On Fire, from JJ Grey and Mofro's lates album Orange Blossoms:

While we often see excellent videos of live performances from blues artists, it's rare to see a concept video. We recently came across this animated clip for James Hunter's "Carina" from his latest CD The Hard Way.

As the Allman Brothers wound up their 15 show stint at New York's Beacon Theater, Derek Trucks worked overtime in support of his new album Already Free (which has topped our Top 10 Blues Chart). While in town, The Derek Trucks Band traveled north to perform an intimate set for fans of House of Blues Radio Hour affiliate 107.1 "The Peak" in White Plains, New York. They brought a camera, so we can share this clip with you.

Have you had a chance to check out "Cadillac Records?" Check out the trailer:

Odetta Holmes has died of heart disease in Manhattan at the age of 77. Born in Alabama, she moved as a child to Los Angeles. During her 60 year career, she became one of the best-known folk artists in the country. She was a voice that accompanied the civil rights movement, and influenced artists such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Janis Joplin.

See Odetta in her last televised performance on The Tavis Smiley Show.

Recently on the House of Blues Radio Hour, we feature the harp -- the subject of the documentary "Pocket Full of Soul." Check out the trailer here as well as their cool site. And if you missed the show, it is now up on the stream.

Here at the Radio Hour, we're big fans of the Homemade Jamz Blues Band. We recently had them on the Radio Hour. Well, the buzz continues as they were recently featured on MSNBC. Check out their awesome segment here: http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/27217407/

Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience, passed through the veil on November 12th. We pay tribute on the Podcasts page.  See a hot solo on video, taped in Sweden, below.

Bob Dylan has a new album in his Bootleg Series, "Tell Tale Signs." Here is the video for the first single, "Dreamin' of You", featuring Harry Dean Stanton.

JJ Grey and Mofro have made a "killer" video for the title track to their new one "Orange Blossoms." Definitely worth a look!

...and here's a nice interview clip of JJ talking about making the video, the album, and a tropical storm...

Buddy is back at #1 on our Top 10 Blues Chart. Did you catch him on Letterman October 8?

Speaking of Buddy, here he talks about legendary Chicago Blues masters that he has seen and who inspired him.

Delta Children: The Future of the Blues. A group of young blues musicans take lessons from an older blues man, then the two generations join together to perform.

Mick Hucknall recently released his first solo album, paying homage to Bobby Blue Bland. The trailer for "Tribute to Bobby" features some interviews with some blues legends. Check it out.

As the Allman Brothers wound up their 15 show stint at New York's Beacon Theater, Derek Trucks worked overtime in support of his new album Already Free (which happens to be #2 on our Top 10 Blues Chart). Last Tuesday, The Derek Trucks Band traveled north to perform an intimate set for fans of House of Blues Radio Hour affiliate 107.1 "The Peak" in White Plains, New York. They brought a camera, so we can share this clip with you.
