We featured a Denver band on the program recently called “The Informants” and they have asked us to pass along copies of their new album, Stiletto Angel, to the Blues Brethren. The Informants have been hailed as one of the best "bar bands" in the U.S, a title they wear with pride. Their first full length album offers a variety of sounds, from upbeat dance numbers to hot and heavy rockabilly tunes sure to draw shameless rump shaking from even the shyest of bar patrons. This contest has ended. Winners will be notified this week through email.
The Blues Music Awards are being presented at the Grand Casino Event Center, just down the road from Memphis, on May 8. This contest has ended. Congratulations to Audrey Rohrer of Mishakawa, IN, who is our Grand Prize winner!
Stored in the basement of a house in Nashville, 14 unreleased JJ Cale songs have now come to light. Dating from 1973 to 1983, these never-before-heard tracks are now available on JJ Cale’s latest CD “Rewind.” Thanks to our friends at Time Life Records, we were able to add this great record to a few Blues Brethren collections. The band has constantly evolved since it was formed in 1967, and its roster has always boasted great musicianship featuring a stellar horn section. Thanks to our friends at Alligator Records, we gave away ten copies of this great record to members of the Blues Brethren.
