We featured a Denver band on the program recently called “The Informants” and they have asked us to pass along copies of their new album, Stiletto Angel, to the Blues Brethren. The Informants have been hailed as one of the best "bar bands" in the U.S, a title they wear with pride. Their first full length album offers a variety of sounds, from upbeat dance numbers to hot and heavy rockabilly tunes sure to draw shameless rump shaking from even the shyest of bar patrons.

The Blues Music Awards are being presented at the Grand Casino Event Center, just down the road from Memphis, on May 8.  TheBluesmobile.com has teamed up with the folks at the Blues Foundation, who hosts the awards, to give away a great trip to the Awards! One runner-up winner will receive a cherry-red Gibson ES 335 Guitar to be autographed at the Awards. Twenty-five other winners will receive a DVD of last year's Blues Music Awards!

Stored in the basement of a house in Nashville, 14 unreleased JJ Cale songs have now come to light.  Dating from 1973 to 1983, these never-before-heard tracks are now available on JJ Cale’s latest CD “Rewind.”  Thanks to our friends at Time Life Records, we were able to add this great record to a few Blues Brethren collections.

The Blind Boys of Alabama's song "I've Got A Home" was last week's Blues Breaker, and now you've got a chance to pick up a copy for yourself for free! Of the incredible 61 albums this group has released since their first in 1948, DOWN IN NEW ORLEANS marks their first recording, of course, down in the heart of New Orleans.

Markus James was our guest on the House of Blues Radio Hour a couple weeks back. His new album SNAKESKIN VIOLIN brings together musicians from Mississippi, Mali and Timbuktu.  It’s a fantastic fusion of blues, roots, and sounds from around the world. We gave away ten copies of this fantastic album.

At the age of 14, he won the Memphis Blues Society’s "New Talent" award.  He released his first album when he was just 17, and only a year later he worked on Susan Tedeschi's album JUST WON'T BURN. We're talking about Atlanta’s Sean Costello, and he's back with a new album: WE CAN GET TOGETHER. Our friends at Delta Groove Records gave us a couple copies for members of the Blues Brethren.

The band has constantly evolved since it was formed in 1967, and its roster has always boasted great musicianship featuring a stellar horn section.
