As the daughter of John Lee Hooker, Zakiya Hooker was born into the blues.  And, like her father, she has taken the blues into surprising directions.  Since first performing with her father in 1991, she has toured the world as a passionate advocate for the blues, and records her music in her own studio, on her own label, with her own vision. 

For her latest CD, Keeping It Real, she visits pretty much every style of blues there is, from jump and funk to Chicago blues to a couple takes on her Dad’s music.
