Super Chikan- "Hello Mississippi" (February 6-7, 2010)
Super Chikan and Spoonful of Blues Two sister cities, seperated by the Atlantic Ocean, have led to a unique new blues album. On the one side was Super Chikan, the unofficial mayor of Clarksdale, Mississippi, purveyor of real Delta blues, and an artist famous for his homemade guitars, fashioned from gas cans, ceiling fans, and whatever else he finds lying around. On the other side in Nottodden, was Forseberg’s Spoonful of Blues, a Norwegian band devoted to juke joint music. They flew Super Chikan to Norway, gathered together at a retro studio and created one of the most feel-good, toe-tapping, booty shaking blues records I have heard in a while. The album is Chikadelic. |
