Asylum Street Spankers "Each Day" (Feb 27-28, 2010)
The Asylum Street Spankers The Asylum Street Spankers began as musicians on the mean streets of Austin, Texas. They took their name from the nickname of the street where they used to play. In musician slang, spankers are folks who play their instruments “proficiently and vigorously. This 21st Century jug band has been around for more than fifteen years now, recording on its own label, Spanks A Lot Records. The band writes its own music, but is best known for its eclectic covers. The latest CD, God's Favorite Band is definitely gospel-tinged, with tunes by George Gershwin along with old blues and gospel standards. |
