The Soul of John Black

John “JB” Bigham first got the blues growing up in Chicago. Then he added some Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin to his education.

JB played with the ska funk band Fishbone for a while. Then, in 1990, he was working with Miles Davis on a film project, Miles wound up recording a song with John Lee Hooker. Watching them play, he realized that if their two styles of music could blend together, his own ideas of musical combinations could, too. So he created something called The Soul of John Black.
