Elwood’s Blues Breaker: Guy Davis “Kokomo Kidd”

Roots player Guy Davis is the son of Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, giants in the theater world. Guy grew up in New York City, but through his grandparents he stayed close to the rural south. And the two traditions, drama and roots music, very much shaped who he is. And over the years Guy Davis has played with everybody from Pete Seeger to Dr. John. He’s performed on Broadway and around the world. His latest is called KOKOMO KIDD, and it continues his personal legacy of socially conscious songs you can dance to. Here is the title track.
